🛠️ How to earn $400/hour through your newsletter

1 strategy, 1 example, 1 big idea

Strategy: How to earn $400/Hour Thru Your Newsletter

My goal with this newsletter is to help you earn more.

I also don’t trust anyone who doesn’t take their own advice (neither should you).

So, this season (more on this later), I’m going hard in the paint to drive growth for my newsletter. My current goal is to add as many subscribers as I can in the next 60 days. We’re just under 700 in just over a month.

On Tuesday, I read Matt McGarry’s post on getting your first 1,000 subscribers. Super helpful.

On Wednesday, I was approached by a new advertiser for $4/subscriber.

So, I went to work.

I realized to grow this thing to my first 1k, I needed to get scrappy. I spent 1 hour on Wednesday night texting, DMing, and LinkedIn messaging about 150 people who I thought should be subscribed to the newsletter.

Of those 150, about 100 have subscribed as of this writing.

Math is overrated, but I believe that’s 400 bones of value created in 1 hour.

($4/subscriber, 100 new subscribers added in 1 hour = $400/hour).

I’m doing this as a side-gig while running an agency and without any budget or team past myself. AKA it’s extremely doable for anyone (especially YOU).

Example: Plain Text Emails

Sticking with emails, this week’s example comes from Sticker Mule.

No fancy graphic. No psychotic headlines. Just straight value with enormous open rates. Keep it simple.

Idea: Seasons of Work

Dave Gerhardt published an idea that literally made me stop my day to think about it.

That never happens.

The idea that there are intentional seasons to business shouldn’t be a novel one. But I haven’t been behaving like there are seasons. I often try to do everything, all at once, right now.

I’m in Creator season for Adam’s Letter right now & a Growth season for Heard.

What season are you in?
